Proportioned 4 You! A NEW Cochenille Book on Disc created by owner Susan Lazear

You are unique! There are no two people exactly alike, and this uniqueness extends beyond your personal shape to your sense of style and the clothing you wear.   Generally, a pattern cannot serve everyone, but wouldn’t it be nice to know that you can eliminate some of the variation by adjusting the pattern’s proportion to your own body?

This PDF book is an approach to pattern and garment design that allows you to combine your personal proportions with simple-shaped patterns. Take 16 simple measurements and then plug selected ones into the pattern templates provided for each pattern throughout this book.

Use your calculator to multiply your measurement by the formula provided, and like magic, you will have the shape of the various pattern pieces in proportion to your body. Want it to be even easier? If you have Microsoft Office, you can use the provided Excel file to do all the math for you. Enter your measurements in the Excel file, and sit back and smile. All the calculations will be taken care of automatically. No more math.
Proportioned 4 You includes the following:
 • A PDF book in Inches and Metrics
• An Excel file to help calculate your measurements
• Easy to follow instructions on body measurements with images demonstrating each measurement.
• Flats and Fashion Images of each pattern design, from start to finish
• Sewing and Knitting Basics
• Fabric and Yarn suggestions
• Creative Options on design variation
• Tips on working with different Figure Types

We invite you to celebrate your uniqueness with Cochenille’s NEW book Proportioned 4 You!

Design Inspiration: Batik Metal Stamps

At the Mingei Museum in San Diego, you can find a display of multiple metal stamps, used to place wax on fabric, as part of the Batik process.

Here you see a wall of blocks...

and here you see a close-up on one.

What a great source of inspiration for design. I see a Stitch Painter project coming.

Customer Spotlight...Bonnie Tone

A short while back I received an email, that I just had to share (with permission of course).

Hi Susan and friends at Cochenille Design Studio,

I want to let you know that I LOVE your Stitch Painter Gold software.
I have the full color import and beading and stitchery modules.  I
have owned it for several years and have enjoyed it so very much.  I
first used it to design a square pillow for my daughter when she
started college.  I crocheted it in cotton with the school official
seal, done in two colors.  That was so much fun.

Since then, I have been cross stitching portraits of family members.
I have done my father, nephew, daughter and grandchild.  I plan on
stitching my grandson, husband, and sister in the near future.  I
attached the cross stitch of my daughter and granddaughter to this
email.  One is not framed yet.
I have used greenish grays (beaver grays) in DMC, so the portraits are
monotone.  I think they are more dramatic than a full color portrait.

Thank you for your wonderful software.  I would not be able to
complete these projects without you.  I am having a wonderful time!

Bonnie Tone

Prepare to loose your socks:

Thank you so much for Sharing Bonnie..

What is a Cochenille Webinar...

In December of last year, Cochenille Design Studio started doing Webinars. We have done at least 3 or 4 each month since we started.

So what does a Cochenille Webinar entail? Well to begin with, if you want in, you need to be subscribed to our monthly email list, and keep an eye on your email for the release dates. Typically, they have sold out in less than 48 hours of emailing the dates and times.

What do you need? All you need is a computer with good speakers, and microphone will help. A mic is not required but is helpful to ask questions instead of having to type your questions in the chat area. It would be best to have a headset, as that will reduce the amount of feedback your computer produces and you won't have to be muted during the lecture. You can always use your phone to call in and have audio.

We use an internet service called GoToMeeting, and we send you an 'invite'. When you click on the link to the class, you may be asked to download software (especially, if it is your first time). You will need to allow it access.

We have also recently found out that for those on a Mac, an operating system of 10.5 or above is required.

You then simply log in at the time of the class (a bit before to make sure you don't have problems and aren't in a hurry). Then watch and listen to Susan as she gives her presentation. She does stop every so often to ask if there are questions, if there are, she answers them.

It's easy, not a scary process at all, even if you are allergic to new technology. If you have any questions please feel free to call Sonia 858-259-1698. Or if you have any subject or day and time suggestions feel free to email info@cochenille.com Here is a link to a list: April's Webinars
